Beef Teriyaki
Welcome to the world of Oriental cooking. This is a budget version of the Japanese dish.
Very tasty.
1½ lbs boneless beef, in strips
1 medium green pepper, sliced
1 medium red pepper, cut into strips
1 large carrot, sliced
½ ts fresh ginger, grated
4 Tb brown sugar
4 Tb soy sauce
2 Tb lemon juice
1 clove garlic, minced
3 green onions chopped
1 medium white onion, coarsely chopped
½ lb broccoli florets, cut into small pieces
Blend all sauce ingredients and add meat. Let stand for 2 - 3 hours.
In a wok, heat 2 tablespoons oil to smoking and add carrots, broccoli and white onion. Stir-fry for 1 minute, then add garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute.
Add meat and peppers along with other ingredients and stir-fry for 3 minutes. Pour in sauce mixture and cook until sauce thickens.
Serve hot over rice.
You may also use a commercial (store-bought) teriyaki sauce. The best is one of the Kikkoman Takari Collection sauces. I use them quite often. Thick and rich.
