Sesame Chicken

With all its oriental flavors, it will please most anyone.

1 ½ lbs boneless chicken thighs (I allow 2 per serving)

½ cup honey

¼ c soy sauce

2 Tb ketchup

2 Tb dried minced onion

1 Tb vegetable oil

½ ts garlic powder

2 ts cornstarch

3 Tb water

Sesame seeds, or to taste

Spread chicken into the crock of a slow cooker.

Stir honey, soy sauce, ketchup, minced onion, vegetable oil, and garlic powder together in a bowl, then pour over the chicken.

Cook on low until the chicken is tender, 3 to 4 hours.

Remove chicken from the sauce in the slow cooker to a platter.

Stir water and cornstarch together to dissolve cornstarch completely; pour into the sauce in the slow cooker until smooth.

Cook on high until slightly thickened, about 10 minutes.

Return the chicken to the sauce. Sprinkle sesame seeds over everything and the sauce mixture.

Serve immediately with rice and 1 or 2 side dishes of your choice.

Note: you may cut the cooked chicken into bite-sized pieces before returning it to the sauce. See photo below.
